About Me

- About me....hmmm this section is a trick...what do I really have to say about me...Lets start with the simplest...I am a mom and a wife and a daughter...I am in the learning to becoming a good mom...It's like being Mr. Miyagi's student. So much work before seeing the end result...I know what you might be thinking I should already know how to be a mom, but really do people really know how to drive before they get a car? Think about it!

I know two blogs in one day...
Everything
"Where are the erections?"
Christmas week started out a little eventful for us. A water pipe decided to spring a leak in our wall and as observant as we (meaning Jason) are, the water on the carpet was mistaken for wet boots that were had been set on the carpet. So naturally the next day when I woke up and it looked like someone (again, Jason) had been walking on the carpet with wet boots I called to yell, oops I mean nicely mention, at him he told me that he thought the kids had stepped on the carpet. I guess I shouldn't tease him so much, because I thought it was wet boots too. So I called our friendly maintenance men, who spent the rest of Tuesday trying to find the cut off valve and then calling in a plumber to fix the pipe and then the carpet people to suck the water out and make the carpet dry. Jason and I decided however much fun it would be to spend Christmas Eve redirecting our children away from the blowy, fun thing that makes the carpet look like a bubble, we would instead just move up our plans to spend the night Christmas Eve at my parents house. Mom and Dad to the rescue again! What would we ever do without them.

The boys had a great Christmas. Their Christmas wish of replacing all the old toys in their room with new ones came true. Imagine that and I told them there wasn't a chance of that happening. They really are the luckiest kids ever. Lily, as I predicted was not all that into the whole material possessions thing this year and instead preferred an old toy and wrapping paper to brand new toys. She will come to appreciate the girly things that I bought her. I am holding out hope : )

Miracle in the dark...
Ethan, "Matt, when it gets dark your penis gets bigger and the more dark it gets the bigger your penis gets"
(Getting it yet...yeah me either, so I probed-no pun intended)
Me, "Ethan, What on earth are you talking about?" (Slightly worried)
Ethan, "When it gets dark your penis gets really big."
(Don't men wish)
Me, "Your WHAT???" (Starting to think he might be talking about eww gross I can't even say it)
Ethan, "Your penis, in your eyes"
(Are you getting it yet, cause this is about when I realized what he was saying)
Me, "Ethan do you mean your pupils???"
Ethan, "Yeah the dark things in your eyes"
(I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants)
Me, "Ethan those are called pupils." (Hanging head still laughing hysterically)
Ethan, "Okay"

Movie Star Sick
On another note...
Lily has her first tooth. I'd take a picture and put it up here but she keeps biting me and it hurts more now. She woke up with it this morning on her 10 month birthday! She really is getting way to big for her own good.
Matt is feeling much better and back to his destructive self. I think he will be a demolition man when he grow up. As bad as I felt for him last week when he was sick it was a nice reprieve from his hyperactive self (someday he is going to make me feel bad for that statement!).

Ethan managed not to get ill. Good for him. I guess being to big for lots of kisses is benefit. He did have his first kindergarden conferences this last week (I just applied make-up with a paintbrush to not scare the kids). He is doing great. A model student. Doesn't sound like my conferences at all! I should just count my blessings.

Here is a pic of them being beavers.

Lillian is growing way to fast. I have no idea what we are feeding her that is making her grow so dang fast. She will be 8 months on the 1st. Really 8 months. Where did the time go? Her new trick is to pull herself up, and the she uses that ability to pull herself into the entertainment center. I believe she is beginning to take after Matt. Crawling for her is more of a state of transition, she has been doing it for a while now and its more like scooting or walking with her hands and feet. Amazingly I don't have any pictures of her doing this because as soon as I get the camera out she drops to her hands and knee, just imagine this bend over and touch your toes and scoot them out and that is how she crawls....I think it is the dog position in yoga? Well for her I will leave you with these....
Matt started his second year of preschool and he loves it!!! His teacher says that he is fearless and that he scares them on the playground. Wow this sounds so familiar where did I hear this before? Oh yeah last year when his preschool teachers told me that exact same thing! Well at least when I take him to the ER again his teachers can vouch that he really is "active". He is doing so well at preschool, at least I havent' been talked to yet. Other than that Matt is doing pretty good at home, he still does weird things like pour water in his fire truck or nose dive off the stairs, but he's Matt, what can I say.
Ethan is in Kindergarten!!!! Hello how did that happen. I swear just yesterday he learned how to crawl and now I embarrass him and he wont let me walk him to the bus. He loves, loves kindergarten. I would love to tell you what he does, but he wont tell me...I'm not cool enough apparently. I do know that his teacher loves him. She told me how good he is, and how he is such a great kid and how wonderful he is in class and that everyone loves him and the only "fight" that they have had in class is two kids fighting over who was going to sit next to him in music class. As she is telling me all these wonderful things about him I wanted to say really when you see that Ethan can you tell HIM to come home. Not the one that goes straight to his room and is mean to his brother. I want the sweet wonderful kids she is talking about! Okay really he is good for the most part and now that we are getting in the groove of school he is doing much better. He really is a good kid--for at least everyone else, I have that.
Okay well I am actually going to go a little out of order....
Jason is technically older as he celebrated his 26th birthday on the 16th. I took him out to dinner to celebrate his birthday that weekend and he got some new clothes, yea. Isn't is funny how when you become an adult clothes are just as cool as toys? This last Feb. he switched positions to the QA team (Quality Assurance) which just got made permanent this August. It now brings new and improved hours 8 -4:30 M-F. Its still kinda of weird to have him home on Saturdays and then Sundays, but I am loving it. The boys love it too. We are so proud of him for all his hard work. I know that it can get stressful, but he does such a great job!
Things have been pretty crazy for me lately. I started school again this fall. So far it is going good and I am getting all A's! I never thought I could do it, but Jason has been such a huge help. He really has made things so much easier on me. That is pretty much it for me. Just school, driving kids to school, home stuff and moms group. Wow my week seems so much crazier!
I will leave you with these great pics that probably say it all....

Updates
Lillian or Lily is doing great! I can hardly believe that she is 4 months old. She has both Ethan and Matthew's personality. She can be loud and outgoing and other time be mellow. I am so shocked at what an amazing baby she is. I never expected her to be so easy. I can only hope she stays like that. Last week she started rolling from her back to her front and then a couple of days she did front to back. Also for like the past couple weeks she has been playing peek-a-boo. Yep peek-a-boo. I don't mean laughing when I do it either, she actually lifts the blanket over her face, peeks over it and then drops the blanket and laughs when you say boo! She is so smart : ) Bet you can't tell how proud I am.
Matthew still is ummm... creative. Yeah we will go with that. He is very smart, a little too smart. My friends mom said that Matt just thinks and wants to know how it works or comes up with ways to get what he wants and that is why he gets into trouble. Since she is a professional we will go with her opinion rather then mine... that he is just trouble. It amazes me how much he has developed over that past year and how far he has come. He has calmed a little (praising God there) but he has come up with new ways to achieve his goals. So far we have had two sets of stitches and I am betting that the third I will end up with a visit from DHS. The first he fell and bit through his lip--and stuck his tongue through the hole just cause he wanted to and the second he got into the dishwasher to get a knife and open his stolen package of fruit snacks. Matt has added a new addition to his face this year--a pair of glasses. It seems that he has a severe light sensitivity and he does such a great job keeping them on, really I swear. Since getting his glasses he has also stopped running into so many thing which is a nice change. Matt has been a wonderful big brother and has helped me so much these last couple of months. I am so proud of how good he has been with Lily and amazed at how much he loves her. He really is a good kid.
Ethan... well.... we are in the fighting fives. I swear that he has turned into a hell spawn, but my mom assures me that his attitude is an exact replica of mine. Which I have been told is a just punishment for my past sins. Figures. I always thought he was an angel. Over the course of the last year he has become mean. Just really mean. Even though he was getting enough sleep he was crabby and complained of being tired. So I talked to his doctor and it seems as though Ethan has sleep apnea. He has really large tonsils (lately to match his really big mouth, lol) and he snores. Plus he had like most of the other symptoms on the list. So we were referred to an ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat Doctor) and they want to take his tonsils out. So on August 7th he will be having them removed. Its a bit scary to have to do this, but they said that they don't want to wait any longer. I am hoping that this will bring back the child I used to know! I know that his attitude will probably still be there, but I am hoping that he will want to be more active and start being a little nicer. They said I would probably see a huge difference. Keeping my fingers crossed that we are making the right decision to have them removed. I do hope that he keeps telling all his wonderful stories. He tells the most wonderful, creative stories. I bet he will be a writer.
Jason is still working at Wells Fargo and he has been doing something a bit different since Lily was born. He is doing a project role for Quality Assurance. Which he likes better, but it seems to carry more stress. Hopefully they will make it permanent since he now has Saturday and Sunday off and works M-F 8 4:30.
I have been keeping pretty busy with Lily and the boys. It seems like the weeks are flying by and soon my baby will be going to kindergarten. I am going back to school this fall so that I can do family and marriage counseling. It is a little scary to be going back and a little exciting too. Hopefully things don't go to crazy.
Anyway that is about it so I will leave you with some pictures of the kids!

Craziness
A couple of weeks ago I had to attend a meeting for kindergarten for Ethan. Seriously I don't think he's big enough for kindergarten, but I am assured by everyone that he is. Then I had to decide if I was sending him on the bus or not. Who can make that decision????? He seems way to little to ride the bus. What if he says the wrong thing and gets made fun of or beat up by the older bully children. But then I found out that some of Ethan's friends from preschool are riding the same bus, so that relieved some fears. What a scary time! Meanwhile I told Ethan that we were having his baby sister Monday and he told me that he wasn't going to be here, he was going to Hawaii. Then yesterday he handed me a letter that said "I love you, Dear Mommy, I am leaving to Hawaii" or at least that is what he told me it said--in that order as well. And I thought he was going to take the baby pretty well.
Matt told me that on Monday he was going to be in Dinosaurland. But he does assure me that he is going to change his baby sister's diaper and feed her bottles and climb in her crib and sing her lullabies. My guess it that he will spend a day with her and realize that she is boring and ignore her until she gets in his way.
So when the 5th member of our family joins us I will post details. Have a great weekend!

How even a hole in my child’s face doesn’t even slow him
Today at around 3 pm Matt decided that he wanted to wear PJS. After Jason and I told him no, to leave the clothes that he had on, on, he went racing around the corner through the kitchen and fell on the stairs. All I heard was Jason saying something along the line of oh crap. So after waiting for a couple of seconds through a contraction and listening to Matt's crying, I figured I better go check on my child, who I thought had bitten his tongue. After a slight calming of the crying and a slow down of the bright red blood (which I knew didn't come from his tongue) I lifted the cloth off his face to see this hole. I can't even begin to tell you how disturbing it is to see a hole in your child's face.
So off to the hospital we went, by the way Matt stopped crying after about 5 minutes and was beginning to demand things on the van ride to the hospital. My dad met us there to get Ethan and take him to their house and I took Matt into the full waiting room at Mercy while Jason parked the van. The children's center there is awesome by the way, we got right in and didn't have to sit in the waiting room at all, they had a tv in his room and a child life specialist came in to see what movie Matt would like. Meanwhile my supposedly injured child was sticking his tongue through the wound in the corner of his mouth. When asked about it he said that he poked a hole in his mouth and could he pleaseeeeeeeee poke a hole in his belly, cause it wouldn't hurt. He also said that he broke his skin, etc. etc. And then when asked why he says "Because I wanted Pajamas" in a very matter of fact tone. As if duh I wanted Pajamas was a good reason to go tearing through the kitchen. The put this cotton ball with numbing cream on it and the nurse had to keep coming back and fix it because, surprise, he kept sticking his tongue through the hole and climbing on the chairs and just being himself. Then they gave him the muscle relaxer, yeah, of course it doesn't calm my child down, it just like a Matt doped up, with whatever self-control he had left now gone and his head was rolling. All of this was both funny and sad at the same time, cause he kept laughing at everything. He was playing with this plastic spinny toy and he puts it up to his face and says "Mama I love this stuffed animal." Of course he was awesome during stitches. I couldn't believe he stayed so still. I was proud.
Of course the meds wore off after a very short while and in the van on the way home he kept pulling his stitches (ouch) and biting his seatbelt with the side that was stitched and when I told him to stop he pointed at me and told my to turn around. Then at Nana's house he was told he couldn't run (doctors orders) so he jumped, which only kept him happy for so long before he started running. I gave up. Besides strapping him down it was obvious that he wasn't going to stop. Ahh but alas he fell asleep on the ride home and I was able to get these pictures of his two stitches. Poor guy and he has an ear infection, which he has not even complained about : ( I am sure that he may just not feel pain though, cause his threshold for pain is way greater then humanly possible, perhaps there is some alien DNA in there?
